Pukalani (pronounced Poo-cah-lah-nee) in Hawaiian means "window of heaven" or "entrance to heaven", "heavenly gate"  is the largest town in upcountry Maui. Situated on the slopes of Mt. Haleakala at an elevation of 1,526 feet (465 m), Pukalani's temperature is cooler than the temperature in towns located at or near sea level.
